Watch your hands...

Farming is the work of the hand, a well-informed hand, a hand prepared for repetition or heavy lifting or swift cutting.  A hand that seeks out information or shares a task.  Here is some of our handiwork today:

Harvesting technique---count the rubber bands, collect a bunch for each band.
Here are our hands loaded up with rubberbands for the beet harvest.  We needed 90 bunches of beets, so we counted out the rubber bands and headed out to pull until every rubber band was holding a bunch o' beets.

Beautiful fennel
Our hands harvested, trimmed, weighed and boxed all of these fennel.

Parsnips--ghostly looking carrots
My hands began to know the feel of two pounds of parsnips.

April and Ruby on the road
We were treated to a horse-drawn wagon ride, Olivier driving his team with skilled hands.

Trying to feel for the calf
Our visiting vet coached us on how to check a cow for pregnancy.

Sophia setting up the window frame.
Finally, we used our hands to apply plastic to our windows for a warmer winter.

Hands down, a good day.
