This weekend, we had a few more lambs born. Finally, one was born at night. Betsy and I were up at midnight to help with the birth of a very large single lamb. And the ewe was so big that we thought there might be another. Consequently, we stayed up late. This morning, my chore group of Brian Justin and I took over breakfast and after that work, I went back to sleep. I missed this morning's work on the broiler chicken coop.

Kiyoshi line-seeding |
This afternoon, we returned to the greenhouse for journaling work as well as planting our solanacae seeds--those are peppers, tomatoes, eggplant. We "line plant" these seeds putting twenty seeds in a row across the tray. Once they germinate and grow a bit, we'll "prick them out" and put each thriving plant in its own block.

Hoop-house maintenance
|
Once all the planting was complete, we worked in the hoop house. Some cleaned out rows of old, used up greens plants while others weeded between cilantro or spinach and still others forked over the soil in preparation for new plantings. More lettuce, anyone?
